Hi,
I have started a diy flashlight project with led cree XML-T6.
I have made the body with aluminium,the heating is approximately 70 celcius.You think is pretty high?
The beam concerns me a lot pls tell which is the best way.
I have two options.
The first is to use 20mm 30-Degree Optical Lens for Cree XML T5 / T6 / U2 LED Emitters

And the second with smooth or peel orange reflector.

OR a smooth reflector.

Which is best for you and for what reason?

The other question is about the optical glass lens I have two options again.
The first is

The rest of the flashlight is not ready yet(battery tube),
What is your opinion for the best result?
 
What is "best" to you?
That Optic at 30 degrees will be very floody.
I just built an XML light with a 10 degree Cree Optic. I wouldn't want any more flood than that.
I'm not familiar with those reflectors.
Regarding glass I think what fits best would be best choice.
 
For the LED, 70C is not bad if you have good thermal path from the LED to the body. I generally shoot for no more than 100C at the LED. That would be too high if it was in a light fixture you wanted 25,000 hours out of, but you'll tire of the flashlight before you prematurely age the LED even at 100C.

For the battery, 70C is pretty harsh. Most LiIon cells should not be operated or stored at over 60C, preferably less.

For your hands, 70C is very harsh! Most people can't hold something that hot.
