DMM voltage reading jump around

My DMM when switched to DC voltage (auto range) shows various voltage numbers that jump from number to number in no order. This occurs with leads attached to DMM or not attached. When I apply leads to a battery for voltage check the DMM does not recognize my battery and continues showing different numbers. NUTS. What is going on? The DMM fuse is blown but that should not effect voltage readings.

Hmmm. . . .


Replace that blown fuse.


Then see if the problem persists.

Change out the old with a new battery too. Good luck!
