Small plain since 1998. I just got it back from the free re-sharpening they do, and I'm once again amazed both by their product and service.

After five years, I'm down to something like $.15 per day of ownership, and I fully intend to get it down to nearly nothing. Barring loss or destruction (and I have no idea how that would happen), this will be the last knife I ever need to buy. (That won't keep my from buying others, but I won't NEED to buy them).
 
I just checked out the Locsha above, by Scott Cook. I wonder if Chris Reeve is peeved about this - the blade is nearly indistinguishable, the phosphorous bronze washers, the lock system, etc. are all very much CRK-style.

Imitation is flattery, but I'd be pretty griped if an employee left and started making a product so very very close to mine.

Yup.

Been EDC'ing a Small Classic Sebenza for over 2 years now. Also, have a Large Regular Sebenza for camping/hunting/outdoors duty. Both, however, in BG-42.

Have any of you Sebbie fans out there compared the BG-42 and new S30V versions? I mean I know it considered "an improvement", but its hard to imagine a dramatic improvement in performance over BG-42.

He might be, but there is a lot new to the Locsha IMO. The one piece handle is very trick, and it's got nice lines. The thumb stud is also much better IMO.

OTOH, the Sebenza seems a lot flatter which could be pretty handy at times.

I'm a little puzzled about one thing in regard to the Locsha -- it's blade is 3 5/8" or something. Just a tad *over* what is legal in a lot of places. Seems very odd he didn't do 3 1/2".

I have the S30V but have not played with the BG-42. There was a lot of talk about this on the Chris Reeve forum on bladeforums.com.

In the end, I doubt there is enough difference either way to prompt a replacement solely on that issue.

Yep, got a small lefthand, undecorated one. I've had it for two or three years now.

Been lusting after those Mnamdi's too!

Used to sebenza, sometimes still do. Mostly, Onions (customs) and a Lochsa in the pockets now.

Got a Lochsa, love it. At $460 it is only about $100 or so more than both the small and large sebs. Might as well go custom for a few bucks more. Hand polished blade, bell flare on the handle one piece construction, the Lochsa is a great knife. (So a Sebenza though.)

I also have a few customs, but at $460, that opens the door for many, many makers. For that price, I could get a Ralph, Elishewitz, Terzuola many others. That's what I meant by "it's priced a little more than I'd spend on it." Nothing against the Lochsa though, looks like a great design.

And even compared to my customs, my small classic still shines! IMHO, many custom makers would love it if all their knives came out as well executed as a Sebenza. I think when you buy a knife from a maker like Chris Reeve or William Henry you don't lose anything in quality even compared to custom, especially for the money. Just my opinion...

ANY! Locking bladed knife in a public place in the UK is illegal! Unless you can prove its for your job. Difficult to do when you are down the Pub. So be careful.
That includes the Leatherman Wave that I carry in my briefcase but I am usually at work and can probably justify it's use (I am an Electrical Engineer).

Just picked a small regular Sebenza here locally. I had some trouble finding them online and I didn't want to wait for the shipping lol. Born on date is June 26, 2003 so it has the newer thumb ridges on the top of the blade. It was either this knife of an SnG but no one has Strider here in town...so I'll take the small sebbie and keep another $100. I've probably opened and closed this knife 200 times in the past 2 days. I was tired of buying a lot of cheaper knives...so I just got one really good one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
 
Good for you torment! You'll love your Sebenza! Of course you realize that you'll never look at cheap knives the same again. You're spoiled for life now! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
 
Definately spoiled now. I started off with a Kershaw liner-lock which edge retention sucked. I moved onto a Kershaw Blackout because I liked the assisted opening. I still didn't like how often I had to sharpen that knife so I bought a Benchmade 941BC1BL. I really liked this knife, stayed sharp and the axis lock was fantastic. Then came my sebenza /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/faint.gif

I had sold all of my other knives in order to get this one and it was 100% worth it.
 
Sebenzas are interesting knives. They are VERY nice. Once you get into that kind of class, you have 2 options - The Sebenza, and customs. I DON'T Sebenza, I custom, which is a bug you don't want, as that gets even crazier than flashlights

A good way to think of the Sebenza is like an ARC LS. Nice - But it's not a McLux or a SpaceNeedle
