Very bright with round beam. When used with fresh batteries, it is as bright as a scorpion.

Well....I bought it

Call me mad, it`s certainly not the cheapest light in the world- but I do really like the unusual ones. And I`ve been working extra time lately. I`m part time so extra days means extra cash- and I can afford an "indulgence" like this for a change. It better be good, looks like it.

A review page will appear on my site within 3 days of it`s arrival here, and probably some post or other on the board too. Looking forward to seeing it

FWIW-I've used the Docter "Midi" 125 (4AA) model for 4 years and find it extremely handy. It's
very compact, powerful pocket light-there really isn't another light out there like it

Is it available for direct purchase? If so, what is a good price for one, and where can they be found?

Unfortunately, sellers of this product are not all that easy to find.

But, as Chris did, check eBay regularly......

Not of much help: Here in central Europe they are soimetimes found at hunting stores (but maybe more than $30 including 20% sales tax).
But you may just call Docter and ask where they are available.

The third one has a metal housing and is waterproof (don't know how deep)
It is as good as an unregulated incandescent flashlight can be...

I am not planning on organizing a group buy or anything, but if someone else would like to, here is your chance! Although, if BC Outdoors supplies them, I guess we're pretty much all set on this side of the big pond!

Many halogen lights tend to have strange light distribution. If you aim on a white wall it's easy to notice that the intensity in the beam-area variates. Some narrow circles are very bright and the areas between them are slightly darker.
Doc's lights however, have a distribution very similar to LED-lights. No dark areas, just an even distrubution of light within the beam-area.
And another thing: Doc's 125 has 5.2W bulb. That is perfect. Lights with 10W or 20W are not practical due to short burntime.
I will check the price where i live (Europe -Norway) and get some comparative pics.

It has a (nominal) 2.6W bulb. 5.2W will damage it due to overheating.
