Does any one do custom shaped LED Emitters?

Using aspheric lens you get a reasonably clear emitter shaped beam, so I had to ask, has anyone customized the shape of the emitter to get some interesting beam shapes?

I don't think anyone has ever modified an emitter. However, you can buy the bare dice and mount them yourself if you are so inclined.

I recall Saabluster dedoming some XR-Es and then putting a different lens on top with some interesting effects, but I'm not sure how far he took it.
