I'm wondering if anyone makes an infinitely adjustable (like Sunwayman V10R or Nitecore IFE) 1xAAA or 2xAAA flashlight?

Okay, I love the Eiger and it's my EDC (and has been for a while) but there is something you should know. It doesn't work using a magnetic switch like the lights you mentioned. It works by squeezing a piece of quantum tunneling composite, lowering resistance as it is squeezed. I say this because if you're used to using a magnetic or mechanical variable switch, it doesn't have the same feel. It can feel more inconsistent, not ramping up linearly and jumping a little at times. The new version QTC pills are much better than the gen one versions, but they are still not perfect.

That said, squeezing that kind of functionality into a AAA light without compromising reliability or appreciably affecting the size of the light is a monumental feat and QTC is currently the only way to do it (that I know of). The QTC Eiger is fantastic and it will serve you well.

... and Efficiency! Worst thing about infinitely variable ring lights is that they'll consume more power than the LED itself at low lumen levels.

On the other hand, I wonder how durable the QTC material is. I've read a few post here that the owner(?) had put the light through a thousand compression cycles without any wear.... but a thousand is nothing (max 10x a day for 3-4 months). Do they sell replacement pills?

The material is rated to > 1,000,000 compressions ... although "real world" durability has reportedly been variable (there are many posts on the forums here, on both sides of that concern). The material is much less resistant to point-pressure and/or shearing forces.

I have used a QTC-based Peak as an EDC (with many off-on cycles daily) over the past year-and-a-half , with no apparent problems :twothumbs

As GeoBruin notes above, however, this is not a silky-smooth precise adjustment process whereby you just "dial-in" the exact number of lumens you might want. Having reasonable expectations for the functioning of this tiny piece of metallized rubber, simply wedged between the switch and the battery, is key
