I got a new Fluke 1507 insulation tester about a week or so ago. I popped the cover to look at the fuse and try some Ni-MH AA's in it.

At first I thought that the Energizers were leaking but Fluke has put some sort-of grease on the ends of the cells. I've never seen this before on anything powered by AA's and wonder why they started doing this? Are they having a problem with the cells or is it just to prevent corrosion, improve contact, etc?
