Double checking, 4.22v idle is ok?

I just got a WP2 II Charger due to a couple reviews stating it cut off charging around 4.11 to 4.15. I just finished charging a couple batteries and one came off at 4.21 and the other at 4.22 resting (ive let them sit for a little bit)

I cant find the thread but i remember reading a while back that 4.205 was about the highest you wanted to go. I just want to make sure these cells are ok before i toss em in a light. Hope i dont need to recycle them :(

It could be your voltmeter is reading a little high.

It's +- .05v hot off the charger. Usually the voltage will settle down a little.

With 2% accuracy, 4.20v (actual) would be 4.284v to 4.116v displayed. It all depends on your meter accuracy.

My multimeter is a craftsman that is supposed to be accurate to within 0.5%

The batteries had been resting for about 10 minutes or so when i took the reading and it they were at the 4.21 and 4.22 which is why i had wanted to double check.
I popped them into a couple flashlights and burned the charge down to 4.1 each.

Not sure how the meter works but it is also possible that the meter is rounding up on the voltage from 4.215 actual to 4.22 and your meter is also measuring high etc. My advice is to find another meter to compare with.

I dont have easy access to an extra multimeter unfortunatly, none of my family or friends have one.

According to my MM, the batteries are now resting at 4.23 volts each after a fresh charge. Not sure if this is getting into the "i should be concerned" catagory or not. Probably should have just gotton a pila charger.

Ive tossed em both into a couple single cell lights to burn off a bit of the excess. plan on letting them sit for about 15 minutes on medium or so

Hello GrimCreaper,

The specification is to charge to 4.2 volts plus or minus 0.05 volts. That means you don't want to see above 4.25 volts.

Thanks for the response, glad to know its all safe :) I just cant remember where i had read it, but the major thing i remember about the post (or maybe a website?) was that once you passed 4.21 or so there was a much higher chance of the lithium plating on the cathode which could cause venting.
