Dremel #212 Drill Press Attachment

Help Support Candle Power:

the dremel attachment is next to worthless. will not drill a straight precision hole.

too much slop in the carriage.

I had one used mostly for drilling #60 holes in newly etched printed Circuit bords.

What the guys say is true. It's not a great tool, but for simple stuff it's fine. If my holes were a little out of true it diden't matter for what I was doing.

As for hold downs, I just used finger pressure, a #60 bit even ripping along at thousands of RPM can't make that much torque to rip the work out of your hands.

Hope this helps.

I hold down with my hands as well. The biggest problem with this is the side to side movement of the drill head, it moves back and forth about 1/8" unless you stuff cardboard in the mechanism to hold it in place, makes drilling accurate holes hard.

If you already have a drill press, maybe consider a jewelers pin vise or as Grizzly calls them, "shank mini adapter chuck". These will close small enough to grip tiny drill bits.

They can be found ..... here,

and ..... here.

Ohhh, gots to get me one of those, as soon as I do the dremel press goes up for sale. Lowes is clearing out Delta tools so I got a real benchtop drill press for under $100, certainly not the best out there but I don't use/need a DP that often so I could live with a lesser model.

The only thing to be careful of with those pin vises is that sometimes they do not run true. So, if you get one be sure to check it out carefully.

I researched one of those dremel drill press attachmnets too. It cost me about the same to get a bench top drill press than to get that. I also found more negative comments than positive comments about it as well.
