Vinh sent a full size sheet with my light which I promptly took a pic of with my phone. I always have my phone nearby. And paper gets lost too easily with me lol. But a thin sheet in the light battery tube is brilliant!

Secondary benefit of the paper is it eliminates battery rattle with all but the narrowest of cells :-)
 
Vinh, is the "1%" mode really different than the "ML" mode? I can't tell a difference, but they're in different mode groups so I can't directly compare to be sure. They seem the same to me and I thought it was possibly a mistake in you mode listing and the very low mode is supposed to EITHER be "1" or "ML".

Just FYI moonlight on my 1st Gen drivervn is REALLY low, as in 0.1 to 0.2 lumens. And the 1% setting on my 1100 lumen light is probably around 12 to 15 lumens. I could be mistaken but I thought they're the same driver just differently programmed mode groups.

Ya I really think on my V2 that "1" and "ML" are the same. I figured as much since "ML" is listed in all the descending groups and "1" is listed in all the ascending modes:

I figure maybe it's just an error. I would describe it more as 1% than a "ML", I certainly don't think it's under 1 lumen, I would guess ~10 lumens.

Just discovered this thread (thanks for the link Vinh). Driver looks great.

Is the 100% current 4.5 Amp? Or is it 3 Amp. This is the only thing I think you should add to post #1. (or maybe it is there and I am blind).

100% = Direct Drive = as hard as your cell can push
 
If you end up having a "V3" or modifying the "V2" at all, I'd really like to see a true moonlight in addition to or in place of the 1% mode. A true moonlight is incredibly useful, especially in very small lights like the D25Cvn or the TiSvn.

You can request a V1 while they last. I think V1 is better for EDC lights, and V2 is better for large lights.

True and I agree but if the V2 just replaced "1" with "ML" or added a "ML" in front of "1" then it could be the best of bother worlds you know?
 
I'm just catching up on this thread; Are the following true?

I have the following questions about the DriveVNX2 UI. They arise from my analysis of the UI of two lights I have, the O-Light S20 and the ZL SC600. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed!



  1. The video titled "DriverVNX Demo" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWVzHrO3pZI does not match at all the information in post #1. Is this because post #1 is for the "DriverVNX2", and the video is for the previous version?
  2. From off, I understand from post #1 that a press-hold goes to the first level, and a single click goes to the last used mode. Focusing first on the press-hold, is there a time delay before the light comes on in the first level for press-hold? I'm guessing the answer is yes, because otherwise the press-hold would interfere with single click. What is the time delay?
  3. From off, is it true that a single click (press-release) does nothing when the button is pressed and comes on in the last used mode upon the release?
  4. From off, if a double click activates the hidden mode, what are the options at that point? What do press-hold, single-click, and double-click do at that point?
  5. From off, what exactly happens for the double-click (press1-release1-press2-release2)? Does the hidden mode get activated by press2 or release2?
  6. From off, what would happen if someone did a double-click-and-hold (press-release-press)?
  7. From on, what exactly happens for the single click to turn the light off? Does the light go off immediately upon button release or is there a small delay?
  8. From on, how long is the delay before the press-hold starts cycling through the modes? Does the cycling start from the mode you are in (O-Light style), or does it always start from the first mode (Zebralight style)?
  9. The youtube video, other than being a different UI, has the interesting momentary-only mode. I don't read anything about that in post #1.
  10. Is there a list somewhere of all lights which contain this chip?

  2. Yes, 0.3s.
  3. Yes.
  4. Internally the double-click mode is just a mode behind the last mode. A single click then turns off, a hold advances to the next mode, which is the 1st mode (wrap around), and a double-click gets to double-click mode again.
  5. From off, the first release switches on last used mode, the second release switches to double-click mode. From off, the first release switches off, the second switches to double-click mode. The UI is designed to quickly react to a single click (on/off, see also 9.) even if a second click may follow.
  6. Works like a single press (on with memory) and a press&hold (advance to next mode).
  7. Immediately on release.
  8. Like 2., 0.3s, starting from current mode. If you continue holding, it will change modes every 0.9s though.
  9. There is no momentary mode. However with the tap-on/tap-off UI you can very quickly switch the light on and off, greatly reducing the need for a momentary mode. For a short burst of light just tap and tap again. Only very short bursts (<0.3s between release and new press) would trigger double-click. Morse signaling won't work well though.
