Hey folks, just wanted to say thanks. I finished my dual cree xr-e dynamo light last night with a great deal of help from all the info you folks have posted here. This was my first light: I can see how this could get addictive. I'll be using the light with a Shimano dh-3n80 hub.
Only problem is that Old Man Winter set in y'day with a vengeance, so I haven't been able to get out for a real test or beam shot pics.
There's nothing new here: two Cree xr-e q5 emitters, Ledil square optics (1 smooth spot, one square diffuse). Rectification with a Schottkey bridge, and a 1F cap to hopefully give some standlight. I shamelessly stole the ideas of 1" square aluminum tubing and plastic end caps (which turned out to be the hardest thing to source...). A 1" conduit hanger clamp attaches everything to the handlebars.
