dummy load for.a xml t6?

What can I use as a dummy load for a xml t6? Would like a 1 ohm 10 watt resister work? Because I have 1 direct drive maglite with a xml running off of 3 nimh batteries and its good . But I just git some free sub c's nicad batteries and 4 would fit almost perfectly but don't wana blow a led by just putting them in. Ya no. What do you guys use for a dummy load?

Use a dummy cell in there so you use 3 of them. Or calculate something with enough ohms to take 1.2V at the current you're running at. It'll have to be a high-rated resistor though :(

when I'm testing a LED driver circuit, I usually wire up some 1N4002 (or similar) power rectifier diodes. This lets me get a Vf that is nominally similar to the actual LED. The non-linear voltage-current relationship of the diode can sometimes produce different results than a plain power resistor when testing a driver. Obviously, build the array to handle the desired power (might mean using 3A diodes or more).
