An interresting discussion is happening on Kuro5hin http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2002/3/5/221852/5548
right now, about the impossibility for a non-corporation to buy ProCells.

Does anyone actually evaluated those ProCell batteries. Some posters on K5 said they where 2 time better that consumer garde Duracell batteries.

You started me thinking as we use the procells at work

I found the following website comparison and it doesn't suggest a whole lotta difference!zbattery comparison table
its a bit sketchy on the details of the test but I think watt/hours are a good comparison...

We use both Procell’s and Duracell’s and I can't tell them apart unless I take them out and look at them. We go through a LOT of AA cells. If I had to guess Procells are very similar to the "ultra" line. I think the biggest difference in the batteries is how new they are. If you have ultras that are 1 year old and regular's that are brand new. They would be about the same.

As far as consumers buying them, anyone can buy them; I know you can only get them in the 24 packs though, unless someone repackages them.

I've been told that the Procell line is just an "institutional" product-not really all that different than the retail product. BTW-Eveready "industrial" line batteries works the same way. www.mcmelectronics.com sells 'em cheaper than the retail ones also..
