When purchasing a can of Computer Dusting Spray. I asked the Walmart employee, why do you check for an ID. She advised that folks are sniffing the stuff. To get high? Yes.

I just blew it off, cause I couldn't figure out how you're gonna get high on air. Back in the day it was sniffing paint. I now know why. Yeah, late to the party, again.


 
Usually there is another gas in there as a propellant to help the air expel faster (typically something flammable or inert). People huff that stuff because it depresses their central nervous system and gives them a "head buzz". It also seriously pickles brain cells.

Yeah, according to the broad cast, this stuff really messes you up. And for what? A few minutes of high? A few seconds on social media?

I've done more then a few crazy stuff in my youth, but this is just IMO stupid.
 
They call it canned air but it actually doesn't contain air. It's usually some kind of HFC.

Don't see the appeal of getting high on it, or pills. They gave me some oxycodone when I had my broken ribs. Didn't have any high or euphoric effects on me. All it did was make me very tired. I was thinking people pay 100 bucks a pill for this?
 
I have long since stopped using canned air when doing computer cleaning due to all the health hazards.

Now I only use a compressor with an adjustable pressure valve. Safer for me, better for the environment, much more efficient and cheaper in the long run.

Hardly, but I'm not worried. The air is extremely dry here, and all the walls in my room is untreated wood, so that takes care of any rogue moisture.
And I do have an anti-static brush, for detail work. And since it's a proper compressor and not one of those dustevacs or whatever their name is, the compressed air is guided out through metal and not plastic. Which, as you know, reduces the electrostatic-buildup.

That said, I did get a right scare first time I took the compressor to the PC, and I forgot the check the drain plug for condensation and I didn't check by blowing it out with the gun.
So I just saw a spray of moisture go right at the CPU-cooler...while the PC was running.

You don't want it too dry, lol...i can imagine that a bit of your soul joined that little puff of moisture...😱

I'd also be concerned with metal shards in a proper compressor, I've seen people take shards to the face.

I did suddenly feel quite cold inside at that moment, yeah...so something definitely happened in higher spacetime for a few seconds after I did that.

But I've never heard of metal shards being blown out from within the compressor. Maybe if the thing was starting to get rusty, which mine isn't. It's been living indoors its entire life. Needs a new coupling though - the one it came with felt a bit too plasticky, and it's starting to leak on occasion.

And are people seriously not using safety glasses when using a compressor? That just sounds like stupidity! The thing is blowing air out at very high speeds, and if something breaks off and comes back like a ricochet, well...it can hurt. Ear protectors (I only got 3M Peltor X5A's now), safety glasses (like 3M Secure fit 3700) and a mask (like 3M Aura 9332+) is pretty much standard for me, whether I'm using the compressor or the pressure washer (NOT using the latter on the PC though. ^^). I got like 5 of each around the house.

Just become a mechanic, after your 4th bottle of Brakleen and the gongs of the bells subsiding you might be inclined to not do that anymore. Then again, people aren't exactly the most clever bunch, if people were willing to prioritise their health over a buzz there'd be no heroin addicts.
