I need to pick a duty light and I'm torn. I need some advice and opinions.

So far, I'm really set on eagletac, especially the gx25l2, sx25l2, and sx25l3.

I like the gx and sx25l2 because of the form factor and because they are rechargeable, and the sx25l2 for battery life and slightly more output. I also really like the sx25l3 because its shorter and much brighter, but really its the max output that attracts me most. I'm most leaning towards the sx25l2 because it has nice output and good battery life, but I'm afraid it may be to big on my belt and be a nuisance.

Anyone have opinions or advice as to any of these as a duty light, personal experiences maybe? Also, will the holsters fit on a 2 inch duty belt?

I think you need to shift focus towards Streamlight. A good duty light the Chinese don't make.

I don't know. I've had a nitecore and a fenix for years and love both of them. I've beat the fenix to hell and it still works just as it should. I've looked at stingers and other streamlights, but they just seem under powered, and with poor battery life. I do however have a TLR2 and love it and am soon buying another TLR1.

I had a the first Streamlight Stinger LED before my Streamlight DS HP, and both have been great lights. I also agree that Fenix makes a great light. Although I don't carry mine on duty for UI preference reasons, I know many who do. I've been using the Tactical Impulse LE-1 light for a while now, and I can't say enough good things about it. I have several other lights in my collection that I use regularly for different things, but the LE-1 is by far the best duty light out there right now in my opinion. It doesn't seem popular yet, but I would definitely give it a gander before making a decision...

I forgot to mention that I did a review of the light a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of pictures: Link

My local PD, with a little help from yours truly, has taken to keeping their big ol' Streamlights in the car. They all sport an assortment of 47s Maelstroms and Olight M22 Warriors with a few Eagletacs sprinkled in on their belts. It amazes me how many officers that work the night shift with only the big Streamlight as a portable light source.

I would trade every light I had, in the car and on my belt for any of the Eagletac lights you mentioned above. (retired after 17 years, and on to another career and some money, in 2009) That said; If I ever went back to chasing tail lights again on the night shift I would get a smaller 18650 (that would take 123's also) for the belt with a wide flood beam and simple UI, preferably a neutral white. and then a 2x 18650 (that can run on 123a's) for the car with as much throw and lumens as I could get. I think I would stay away from lights with a recharging port on them just to keep it simple and more waterproof. I would just recharge the 18650's as needed in a good charger. Keeping piece of mind knowing I had some back up primary lithium cells that have a 10 year shelf life in the car. And depending on the real estate on the belt maybe a pair of primary cells or 18650 for the belt light on the belt. JMHO I remember well the old Magchargers and Streamlight Singers fading fast when there was no other light on you, and that sinking feeling in the gut when it happened. 1* brother.

Hey Friend,
According to my openion you should try MagLite 6 D-Cell Aluminum Heavy Duty Water Resistant Flash Lights. IT is a good duty light.

You can look for a Malkoff , build like a tank and simple UI , high/low with the twist of the head , a must for a LEO.
You can use 18650 cells and carry a pair of CR123 for back up.
Also USA made , that's a must for some people , you support the economy of your country.

I'm trying the SX25L2 as my duty light at the moment. Only used it for about 2 weeks so far, but it has suited my purposes. I really like the size of the light, to me it feels compact and solid, but it hasn't yet taken any significant abuse so I can't comment on how it might take punishment. I'm very happy with the amount of light it puts out, although I'd prefer a slightly wider beam (not a huge issue to me though). One of the reasons I bought the light was the charging method, very simple, I love it. The cap on the charging port screws in quite firmly, I can only assume it will keep water out but I've not yet submerged the thing. I carry the light in my back pocket, it's comfy and barely noticeable, but in my opinion it's too big to wear on your belt when you're seated in a vehicle. This is no problem to me though, I'm quite used to holding the torch as I get out of the car. And I think the simple twist of the head to adjust the levels is great, very easy transition from piercing a tinted window at night, to reading a licence. I prefer this over multiple clicks to cycle through levels.

The newer Stinger DS LED HL is ANSI rated at 640 Lumens and a run time of 1hr & 15 min. on high. It is a great little (well, actually medium size) light. Size wise it is just slightly smaller than the GX25L2, and I really like the tailcap switch option as well as the side mounted switch. Light wise it is almost impossible to tell the difference in output between it and the Eagletac lights. (Obviously not the SX25L3 though) The Eagletac lights feel very solid and well built. There is an o ring sealed cap that screws into the charging port on the Eagletacs that would appear to be pretty much water tight. I also really like the UI on them. I don't think you can go too far wrong with any of them or the Streamlight.

How about the Thrunite Scorpion V.2 with turbo head. It's what's on my duty belt. Excellent bit of kit.

This week I am carrying the Supbeam T10, same exact lihht as the scorpion with a permanently attached turbo head. The search for the perfect duty light never ends

Not sure if trolling or serious...
Users first post, calls it a "maglite 6d cell Aluminium heavy duty water resistant flashlight" rather than "6D Mag"
Im thinking a Troll or Spammer, trying to get their post count up (I'm actually surprised there isn't a link in the post)

One of the most popular duty lights around here at least is the Klarus XT11. You can throw them at brick walls and they'll stay lit etc....very tough lights....and side by side with the streamlight....brighter with a floddier beam. Also, the ui is amazing for tactical use.

Its also weapon mountable and has a pressure switch that can hit strobe and change brightness, not just go on/off.
