Can someone please explain why can't I change the batteries from the tail switch? It is hard enough to keep track of all the pieces without having to worry about the lamp falling out also. Was this a ploy to sell more lamps when they fall on the ground? My new E2D is terrific, but can the body be bored out to accomodate cell swaps from the tail?

This is one of the reasons I why I don't particularly like E series lights. Feeding batteries through the tailcap is much more natural. Removing the bezel on E series lights makes it easy to drop the lamp (as you stated), and increases the chances of getting dust and moisture in the reflector/bezel. I can't remember if it was FM or Leef that made an E series body with a C series tail, but that might be a good solution for you if the problem annoys you enough.

That was Leef. You loose the clip though. FM made 18mm bodies but the switch is built in and no clip. Am I too picky?

I have a Surefire and E1e and i'm satisfied with it.

I don't see any problem in this, since the body of the E-series has diameter slightly larger than a CR123.
There's no other way to make a tail thread larger for the tailcap in a body so thin, without prejudice its resistance.
And that is what the e-series are: small and strong!

Cheers,
Dioni :)

That will make a battery swap fun out in the field. Someday the perfect light will be found or made.

Dioni,

Thanks for pointing out to me the size of the tail threads. They are only slightly larger than the 123 cell :stupid:

Why is it always a compromise :mecry:
