E2+ or E to C

If I use a E2C adapter for my L4 light will I have the thermal shutdown like the E2+? Or will the additional mass allow for sufficient cooling?

I have a shock isolated C series bezel HA III, and a standard C bezel. Would one work better than the other? I want to be able to run all of the P-series lamps in it as I need them. I will be using a 1 cell extender to provide power for the P90/91.

IIRC some people who were running the UBH-II with 3-123 batteries and the P91 did get thermal shutdown after something like 5 minutes (don't quote me on this though), but the P90 worked ok. If I get time, I'll try mine tonight with a P91 and see how it does.

I just tried a couple of combinations with my UBH-II and an older style E2C adapter, along with an E2e LOTC tailswitch.

I first ran the UBH-II with three SF 123 cells and an M2 bezel with a P91 HOLA. I ran it for 7 minutes continuously, holding it in my hand the entire time. After seven minutes, I could still hold the light, but it was very very hot. When I took the light apart, the lamp was too hot to touch.

I waited a few minutes for everything to cool down, then put a 6P bezel on the light with a P90 LOLA. I ran that combination for seven minutes also, and it got hot, but not as hot as with the P91. When I took everything apart, the parts were warm, but the lamp asembly was not as hot as the P91 was, and I could hold it in my hand.

I wouldn't be afraid to use a UBH-II (or E2e and cell extender) and the P90 LOLA for moderade use (10-15 minutes at a time if necessary), or the P91 for intermittent use, a couple of minutes at a time max, but I wouldn't recommend using the P91 with one of the small bodies for extended periods of time.

My current favorite incand. light is my UBH II with E series LOTC and E2C adapter with the SRTH and N2 bulb. I have used this combo extensively without any heat related problems. It gets warm, but that's about it. I prefer it to the C series bezel with P90 lamp, just as much light, much better beam. Neither combo gets anywhere near as hot as say an L4 run for 10 minutes though.
