if it says e2e-bk then it is HAIII

Be careful here because black E2E's may be either Type II anodized or Type III anodized. I have a black E2E which is HA and it came in a box labelled E2E-BK on the end, but oldgrandpajack was (is) selling black E2E's on B/S/T that are Type II anodized. In his post, he refers to them as "E2E-BK", but was very careful to specify that they were Type II anodized.

Bob is correct.

I've seen them both ways. The E2d has the HAIII finish, but the plain E2e's can be found in HAII and HAIII. This has always been one of my favorite lights too.

My friend, I see that, unlike myself, you have never been the recipient of Size 15's lecture entitled There is no such thing as HAII, nor has greenLED drawn to your attention the redundancy inherent in the description HAIII.

BTW, the E2E is one of my favorite lights as well although I only have three of them.

My box says E2E-BK and it is HA black. Same finish as my U2. I would rather just look at the light then go by a label.

There are actually three different E2E-BK flashlights currently available, that I am aware of.

There is the HA III version of course, which has the dull black finish, Pyrex (scalloped) hex anti roll bezel, and Z61 (clickie tail cap). I have four of these available.

Next, there is the standard Type II anodized black, which has the shiny black finish, Lexan lens (old tear drop bezel), and Z54 LOTC. This one is exactly like the current E2E-SG, except for the color. Never liked this version, and don't have any.

The third version, which is hard to find, has the Type II anodized black finish, Pyrex (scalloped) hex anti roll bezel, and Z54 LOTC. I have three available.

John, I'm just curious. The box containing my Type III anodized black E2E is labelled "Model E2E-BK" on the bottom end.
Regarding the third version that you mentioned, how is a box containing a Type II anodized black E2E labelled? Same or different?

Hi Big Bob:

They are both labelled the same, E2E-BK.

I had an old teardrop style E2E with the lexan lens, shiny type II finish and the clip on the bezel instead of the body. Also the momentary tailcap. It went through hell and the finish and everything else held up surprisingly well.

Thanks John. In that case, while not an issue if one can inspect the light, anyone purchasing an E2E-BK on-line would certainly be well-advised to inquire about the anodizing type if it's not explicitly stated.

What makes it even worse, is that the individual selling the E2E-BK may not even know there is a difference, or how to tell one from the other. :(

DOH! Actually, I've witnessed the post-lashing of others, but I've always typed out HAII as a shortcut to "Type II Not Three Not Hard Anodizing Anodizing" out of laziness.

*tightening my CPF cilice*

Thank you sir, may I have another. ;)

There are two things I hate in this world...
People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the French.
...And people who use the term "HAII".

Al :naughty:

Does this mean you hate yourself?!

Hey, you can hate the French, but not be intolerant of their culture.

......especially if you have as many HAII flashlights as Al does.

SORRY SORRY!!!!!

HAII TORCHES! There we go.
