I have the need for another flashlight, I fancy a small edc, probably 2x 123's and a reasonable output. I keep seeing the Tl2 at some really good prices for its specification, but is it as clear as the 100(Tl-2) vs 60(E2e) lumen comparison? Anybody who has either I'd be glad to hear what you think or another for a similar price, I guess I don't want to pay much over $100/£60 but would do for the right one.

thanks very much, Ian /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Quickbeams site has the E2 at 39/40 (throw/total output)

The TL-2 gives 70/59 (throw/ total output)

A large difference.

I have several TL-2's, and love the light output, and the nice small package.

lumenwise both light are more or less equal.

if you did not ever had a SF E2e in your hands you will be not disappointed with the SL TL-2.
the TL-2 is a very good light, but the SF E2e is the better light.

i would buy both.

If you have both lights on at 3 feet against a white wall the difference in 10 or 15 lumens is not very noticeable in these lights, the thing is once the E2e is in your hand you'll love it, other good reason to pick the SF is the chance to upgrade it with other lamps or led bezels... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

I do like the both of them, but I think the great deal on the Tl-2 might get me. I like the idea of upgrading the E2e but I want an edc I will keep as it is. Thanks for the advice, I guess I'll flip a coin,

thanks, Ian /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ahh, decisions now after reading the thread on Z2's I want a G2z, which would be better, a G2z or an E2e or Tl2 Xenon?

thanks, Ian

P.S. Great Photo Artar, thanks, sometimes you need to see them next to each other and thats perfect!

Artar, very good pics.

It does help a lot in choosing.

But ! They are NOT equal in lumens, the TL-2 stomps the E2.

I agree that the E2e is a nicer light. However, my TL2 is not much larger, is brighter, and is less than 1/2 the cost.
If I did not have either, I would get the TL2 instead of the E2e.

Jerry, is the reason you prefer the TL because it's brighter? The TL may be the better value; do you feel that the E2e's not worth the expense?

I'm playing with the idea of purchasing an E2 of some iteration because I like small, bright, well made, lights. (isn't that a newsflash?) Since I've got a Scorpion already, maybe an E2 is more just wishful thinking and not different enough to consider.

Somebody tell me why I should buy an E2e,o,?

[/ QUOTE ] I just received my first highly anticipated Surefire light this afternoon, the E2e. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif All I can say is " I can't put this light down." It is like holding on to the Holy Grail of miniature precision machined luminous marvels. It is everything that you mentioned above and then some. I'm sure you will be more than pleased, if you acquire one.

ianb: the surefire E2e is smaller than both the TL2 or G2Z, so if you're going to carry it around the E2e would be a wiser choice. if you're looking for a light that you intend to carry in a holster or in your backpack, i think the G2Z which is very rugged due to its nitrolon construction makes a good choice. the TL2 is a decent light and you should consider it if you're on a budget /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jayflash,

I prefer the TL2 because it is brighter, less expensive, and almost as small. I think that if I can carry the E2e, I can carry the TL2.

However, I cannot deny that there is something about the E2e that awakens a sense of pride of ownership that I am not sure I feel with the SL.

In fact, I almost never carry either of them. My most carried light, excluding the one cell lights, is a 1 cell twistie with a KL1 Mod. That is very small and provides all the light that I need.

I am somewhat "frugal" and I think that the SL2 is a much better buy. Only if you are buying the light to handle and think how nice it is, do I recommend the E2e over the TL2.

This is just one man's opinion. I do not think that you will ever be sorry if you buy either, or both. If you are buying it to use, get the SL.

Jerry

Thanks Chamenos, I do like the sound of the finish of the SF but on a budget I think I am probably better served with the SL TL-2, thanks for all the replys,

you're welcome ian, if i'm not wrong the TL2 has a textured reflector as well, so the quality of the beam should be on par or at least comparable with that of a surefire /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ian,

I believe the Glowring people (Traser) are Streamlight dealers here in the UK - you can get yourself some Glowrings at the same time.

If you want to get the E2e - there is a member of the UK British Blades Forum (ODS I believe) who is a good source I've heard.

Personally I'd get the E2e. The LED Bezel options for the E Series make it very attractive even now.

Particularly the PRT/LuxeonIII combo. Possibley the best size/throw ratio LED light available right now.

PM replied to thanks Simbad,

Size15s: Glowring, how would I get in contact with them?

I think I m just going to have to get an E2e now and a Tl-2 later as I really would like to see both, this damned flashlight addiction is expensive!

thanks all for the replys, Ian /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ian, I think you'll be very happy with an E2e. Here's a photo of one of mine. The stock MN03 Lamp is plenty bright with good runtime for a pocket-sized incandescent. Although I do keep McLux PR LED heads on mine, pretty much.
