When I purchased my Scorpion, for $35, Streamlight's TL-2 was selling for quite a bit more, and the SF-E2e more yet. I like the small size of the E2e and might like to get one after the small detail of procuring another job is secured. Is the output of the E2e reasonably close to the Scorpion in actual use? It is below the Scorpion on the output comparison chart but that doesn't indicate real-life usage. I'd imagine the E2e has a wider beam for bright, closer work. Is the TL-2 an improvement over the Scorp or just a little shorter and no rubber jacket?

My first flashaholic-grade light was lost forever when it came out of a velcro sealed pocket. Guess I've been scarred for life and like how the Scorps rubber helps it to stay inside pockets.

Re: E2e, Scorpion, TL-2 Comaprison

The Scorpion and TL-2 use the same bulb, and seem to have identical orange peel reflectors. I notice no difference in their beams. That is good, as they are round and smooth.

I don't have an E2, but Quickbeams site gives a real edge to the Scorpion/TL-2 over the E2.

E2 Throw 39....Scorpion 71
E2 overall 40....Scorpion 58

I like the rubber grip also.

Gosh, sorry for the loss of the Scorpion. I was in disbelief when I lost my Pelican M6. I then purchased a SF E2e to replace it.

The SL Scorpion was my first CR 123 light.

Here is a beam shot of my Tigerlight, E2e, and Scorpion.

When the bulb on my Scorpion got stuck in the head and I tried to pop out the lens (ended up destroying the lens); I sent it in to SL for warranty work, they replaced the entire head with a new one.

From reading reviews the TL-2 is an improvement over the Scorpion. The smaller size and lack of rubber sleeve was going to make me get one to replace my broken Scorpion but that was not needed since the Scorpion was fixed.

Re: E2e, Scorpion, TL-2 Comaprison

Jason, I'd be bummed about losing an M6 too - that's a better light than the one I lost. I lost a small (for its time) 2C Streamlight about 12 years ago. At the time it was a good light, heavy aluminum, halogen, and hardly bigger than its two C cells. It bounced out of a sealed pocket when I was running probably due to its weight. Because I carry the Scorp in a pocket I like how it has stayed put - so far.

Any suggestions on a good holster for the Scorpion, something secure yet easy to access?

See my fix for retrieving loose Scorp lamps in the Scorpion/PT Surge post in the General Lights section.

Re: E2e, Scorpion, TL-2 Comaprison

The Pelican M6 is a little cheaper than a Scorpion. I paid $30 for it or so when it was on special at Battery station. It is bigger than the Scorpion and E2e but has greater throw than the E2e or Scorpion. It was also heavier than the Scorpion of E2e.

I keep my Scorpion and SF E2e in one of these holsters.

With the Scorpion or TL-2 with the bigger head, stick it in tailcap first. I carry my Scorpion in it as back-up above my right back pocket horizontally. Its nice and secure.

With the Sf E2e, I stick it in head first with the tail locked out.

I removed the post that was in Reviews - my mistake about the nature of that forum.

Jason, thanks for the link for holsters, that will be useful.
