Where the darkness used to be
Hello all...
I've been lurking around the forums for about 2 weeks now. I have recently purchased a SF 6P. Does anyone have a picture of a 6P vs. E2e HA? I'm wondering if I picked the wrong light.....the 6P is a great light, but how much smaller is the E2e?

Matteblack,

Go to the Reviews forum, click on the thread for external review
sites, then go to brock's flashlight page. I'm pretty sure that
he has some comparison photos with both the E2e and 6P (and others)
in them. The E2e is not that much smaller than the 6P, but people
say that that little bit makes all the difference for EDC.
Also the III HA is much harder than the type II on the 6P. I
also just recently got a D2 (same as 6P but with clip) and I also
wonder if I made the right choice. The P61 HOLA is really awesome
though, and the E2e can't put out that amount of light unless
it is modded. Just hold onto the 6P and get the E2e later. Or
you could try to sell your 6P on B/S/T, but I have to warn you
that no one seems interested in my D2 package which I have for
sale right now. That's OK, though. Just means I have to wait
longer to buy my SF 10X dominator or TigerLight or E2e. The 6P
is considered to be a classic light. Don't worry you didn't go wrong.
If you'd gotten the E2e you'd probably wish you'd gotten the 6P.

Good Luck and welcome to CPF!

js, thank you for the info. I did find what I was looking for.I'm pretty sure that I will be keeping the 6P. I know that I've got the bug at this point, because all of the sudden I find myself saying "I'll just get the E2e next......". Where does it end? Or does it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

Here you go

Matteblack,

It does not end! It's like the hydra heads. Buying a flashlight is like cuting a head off--for every light you buy you find that you want two more that you don't already own. The more flashlights you buy, the more you learn, the more you want to buy. Then, of course, there are always new areas, HID, Lasers, mods, etc.

Anyway, the 6P is a really neat light, and there are so many accessories for it. To start with, get the P61 HOLA if you don't already have it, and the SC1 is way cool, and there are many more accessories/conversions/adaptations. I got a pyrex lens C2 bezel for mine. I really strongly disliked the Z49 clickie, BTW. It is larger in diameter than the body of the light, makes the light longer by 1/2 inch or so, and is unwieldly to operate. That is, you have to hold it in just the right way to get your thumb to go inside the rubber outer ring that prevents accidental activation of the light. Just one man talking here, and others disagree, but I don't think the clickie is a wise investment. I sold mine right away on B/S/T.

js,
Thank you very much for the info on the clickie. It was actually one of the first accessories that I was looking at. Glad to get that info before hand. Thanks for all the good advise. And thanks for the image Brock! I really do like the 6P, but I do think that it's going to be a little bit too big to EDC. With winter on the way, I'll be able to stick it in a pocket, but what about when summer comes around? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

While the E2e is a very nice light, it's not so much smaller that you should be dissatisfied with the 6P, or worse yet, feel the need to trade it in. I have two E2e's and I still have my old 6Z, 6P, 9P, etc.

One way to think about it is that the 6P is a better introduction to the Surefire Construction set. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Enjoy your light. As you use it, you will likely find a need for another light quite different from either the 6P or E2e.

That wouldn't be too bad of a pair, beause the L4 and the 6P-P60 do different jobs.

(Heresy warning)

I could get by with 3 Surefires. An A2/E2/L4/L2 for carry, an M3T or M6 for long reach, and what I call a "grab light"-- never taken anywhere, always in the same spot at home, ready to go. Right now that light is my 6Z. I EDC much smaller lights, and only grab the A2/M3T/C3 when I need it.

I guess that I'll just have to get the E2e, then the L4 or the Kl1 for the E2e,and of course I'll need an Arc AAA and a Sonic G....and an A2....and then she'll find out....and then... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twakfl.gif
