i purchased one of these last week, to use as a headtorch on an all night mtb race, so last night i tried it on a night ride, after 20 minutes on the high setting it went very dim, so i turned it off. On getting back to the car i tried more new batteries and it was very intermittent in turning on, the light level would not adjust and it was going from bright to dim and back again, once at home i tried it with the original batteries which resulted in a very hot top cap (the switch) and batteries, so i put it back in the box ready to send back, has anybody else had this problem? to me it seems like a bad connection across the switch contacts, but i could be very wrong any ideas?

Try to clean all contacts, is the swich in the tailcap ok, or is it loose.
+1

What you have described is quite common with brand new lights that need cleaned before use. I would also make sure that the switch is tightly screwed into the tailcap by using needlenose pliars or whatever fits into the two holes.

:welcome:

cheers guys, gave the contacts a good clean, there seemed to be alot ot silicone grease all over them, i will check the switch housing is tight in the body, and try again

thanks for the replies guys, just cleaned it all out, and discovered the ring that screws in and holds the switch was almost out! so it has now been tightened up properly and it all seems fine, left it on for 5 minutes and nothing got hot, it also switches between modes so fixed and ready for my next night ride.

once again, thanks alot, brilliant help.

I suggest moderators to edit the thread tittle (maybe just add "solved") in order to avoid confusion creating a bad impression of such an excellent light.
