Easy mod suggstions?

I have a Mag 2D with three luxion III stars put together by Mod-a-mag some time ago.
It is driven by 6 Nimh in series.
Are there any easy (almost) direct replacements for these that would allow a klutz to make the swap and would show a good gain?
I am very good at soldering haveing put together a few Heath kits in the old days.

The Seoul P4 U2 bin would probably be best for this swap. Pretty much a direct current gen replacement to the Luxeon LEDs.

You should get more then double the output.
