ebay 35w HID's

Hi,

while i've read that there are a lot of fake 35w HID's, not putting out nearly 3500 lumens, I keep wondering, perhaps there are some mediocre quality ones?

has some different lights. Has anyone had any experience with them?

If you are looking at those units under $300 it might be worth the gamble but anything above that I would spend the extra cash and go for a brand that is going to back their product with service like AE.

I admit it looks and sounds like a nice light, but be aware that lumens stated by most "no name" flashlight companies tend to be overinflated. The K3500 is a notorious case of this, which happens to have very similar specs to this light. I could've sworn I've heard of "Eagle Eye" here on CPF, I'll look it up. Another thing to keep in mind, if something were to go wrong there's the warranty issue. AE's customer service is in fact world class. They are amazing, and if they mess up they'll be sure to fix the problem.

While AE doesn't have a 35W light, their quality is beyond amazing.

IMO the "Japan Made" light sounds fishy. I have never heard of an HID light produced in Japan, if it is then it's a first for me.

As i already own a K3500R myself, i would rate it something between 2500 - 2800 Lumens..."true" lumens so to speak ;)
Still enough power for THAT size!

Unfortunately, yes; the numbers seem to be very inflated.

I purchased what appears to be a non-branded AE off E-Bay last winter. The seller (in California) claimed 3500 Lms and a 35W buib.More like 1500 Lms and a 25W bulb.But I must say for less than $200 I got more than I expected.If this is a non-branded AE(and I'm sure it is) it is as solid as a rock.Keep an eye out for one of these,you won't be disappointed.

I got one of those ebay HID, bright but u can't change the HID bulb by yourself if it got spoilt (it's sealed tight), does have some flickering during startup occasionally, and the beam has a black line in between the flood. Don't expect much from a cheap HID flashlight when u got one.


I'd prefer to stick to my LED flashlights seriously. That's my frank opinion. Hope it helps someone here to get a better buying decision.

I certainly hope so. Cos it's my first HID flashlight. :)
