Ebay green laser

There's someone on ebay selling green laser pointers and it says they have built in IR filters.

How reliable do you think those lasers are? Should I believe they really do have IR filters that work effectively?

If anyone noticed, the picture says 50mW but the specs say 120mW.

You are right. Check the seller's other items. He does sell a 120 mW laser too. It is possible he copied/pasted the description and forgot to change some details.

Still not a good sign.

I would be deeply suspicious of 120mW in a pen format. It probably does do 120mW - but only for a few seconds. Check out the detailed posts in other parts of this forum - heat sinks, reliability, peak output etc.

If you can afford it, get an EnVee from Lucent Optics (Lucentoptics.com) - great performance, small format but bigger that a pen-size (uses AA) with heat sink and safety features )and I don't have anyassociation with them other than as a satisfied purchaser).

Good advice, the EnVee is the best bang for the buck out there at the moment.

You can see in plenty of other threads here that with ebay, you generally get what you pay for with the uncommon exception.

With this listing in particular, the price is set for a 50mW but the twit ebayer forget to change specifications.

He claims to use this meter http://www.sintecoptronics.com/powermeter.htm to test his lasers. Feasible but uncommon for an ebay seller.

If you are serious, ask him a few intelligent laser questions and see how responds.
