HI,

I'm Looking to get a new torch for everyday carry, I have made a list of the six I'm intrested in buying, Please help me norrow it down to ONE :thanks: .


1:Madjak - LED
2:Nextorch- Z1
3:Ledwave- X-11
4:Nuwai - TM-303X
5:Smith and Wesson - Galaxy
6:T.O.P. - Stryker Fester

Out of all of them i like the Nuwai and the Ledwave x-11
The x-11 is probably a better bet as its got HA3 anodising.

If you want to get the Nuwai then get it from here instead and save nearly £20

My next choice would be the Z1. It all depends on what type of beam your after and the runtime.

There are a few things to take into account when choosing a light for EDC... Like how you are going to carry it (holster/bag/pocket), What are you going to use it for (do you need throw or flood) and how much are you going to use it (could be important for battery choice,).

I've noticed that you list 5 LED lights and one incan (the T.O.P.). Does this mean that you don't care if it is LED or incan? or maybe just a little oops? :)

If you are going to carry it in youre pocket, the smaller light would be better. 2, 3 & 4 are all 1xcr123 lights, which would be suitable for pocket carry. 1 & 6 are 2xcr123 lights which could be a bit less comfy in your pocket. 5 is a 2AA light, which will save a lot of costs battery wise, but most likely not good to carry in your pockets.

If you are going to use it a lot, you might want to consider a rechargeable option.
4 can be used with rechargeable batteries, it will even boost the performance. as 3 is virtually identical, I assume that it will take rcr123s too. the 2 cell lights might not take that well to rechargeables, as 2 rcr123s hot off the charger are very likely to cause the magic smoke to escape. 5 can most likely be used with NiMHs without problems.

While a light with lots of throw often has a higher WOW factor, the lights with decent flood are often the better allround lights. If you are pretty new to all of this light stuff, I reccommend to buy the Nuwai TM-303X from Lighthound.com for 17,5 quid (that includes shipping). Add a rechargeable kit from lighthound.com or qualitychinagoods.com and you'll have a good light for little money and very low runningcosts. then use it and find out what shortcommings the light has for YOUR application. Buy the next light based on that and give the Nuwai to your girlfriend or dad or sell it here on BST.

The torch Will be Carred in my bag most of the Time and will ony be in my pocket when I'm out in the woods etc, It will mostly be used for silly thing like looking in my pack/under cabinets for stuff etc so battery life is not a major issue,

The Nuwai - TM-303X (or Q3 as it is often referred to) will do fine for your use. Do keep in mind that it takes CR123 batteries, which are not cheap in the main street stores in europe. So ordering a few extra when getting the light might be a smart thing to do. Or get the rechargeable kit, the light will perform better with it and it'll save you a few quid in the long run :) you can also easily mod this light to a 2-stage light, which can add greatly to its functionality...

If size isn't an issue, you can also look at the Nuwai TM301X-3, which is a 2 cell, 2 stage version of the Q3. I like the size of this light as it fits my hand pretty well. But keep in mind that it doesn't take rechargeables very well... 2x rcr123 will make it go :poof: and 1 17670 type of cell will probably not drive it to optimum performance...

I'll just second what MayCooper said The "Q3" will be best suited to your needs remember www.lighthound.com also sells batteries cheap too so some of the money you save you can get the rechargeable kit or some single use batteries.

When i was a newbie (i kinda sill am) i found out about the TM301X-3 and rechargables the hard way. :awman: I bought it from www.heinnie.com and they were awesome about replacing it but that one also blew due to rechargables i googled the problem and found this place. :laughing:

Thats where I got mine :) Ed is great to deal with... But so is John at lighthound.com... If you'd ask me where I'd buy now if I was to get another one... I'd end up with 2 Q3s as I wouldn't know who th choose.

If you want extras like a load of batteries, or a rechargeable kit, go with lighthound, if you just want the light, take your pick :)
