Eddie Bawer

I saw a Eddie Bawer 1 Watt LED at Target for 39.95 while I was Christmas shopping today. Has anyone bought one of them an if so what do you think I was able to turn it on and I could see the light on a wall about 20-25 feet away under their lighting, not bad. Anyway I did not buy one today but was curious to see if anyone has one.

I think they are Coast/Lenser/V2 lights rebranded to Eddie Bauer. I've played with them in various brandings and for a light you can immediately buy, they aren't bad. But $39.95 is a buck more than the hallowed Nuwai Quantum III from countycomm.com

Edit - Was the 1 watt really only $39.95? That's really not a bad price... I was thinking they were closer to $50 but I'd still go for the Nuwai.

That light uses 3 N-cell batteries, and has no regulation. The runtime is very short. This isn't my personal experience, but it's what I've gleaned from reviews and 2nd-hand comments. So although it looks like a nice, well-built light the batteries and lack of regulation kill any interest I may have had.

Here's a review I did. Please note that the review sample was, in 3rd_Shift's words, "one of the best of an otherwise mediocre product."

The main upside is that the light is made from stainless steel. Other than that, runtime is short, it uses expensive and hard-to-locate cells, it has minimal water resistance, the optic is not protected, the LED is not regulated, and it's overdriven.

Unless you find about 50 of them on the shelf and can poke the "try me" dimples on all of them without drawing attention,
Just avoid these.
I spent about 30 minutes with a spare door key pressing the try me dimples until I found the 2 best ones out of over 50 of them on the shelf.
Someone had to have wondered later,
