I have been out of the loop for a while so I don't know what all new lights are out. I want a new EDC light. Any suggestions? Here's my criteria:

2x -CR123A
Multi level output (Not really concerned if it has strobe or not)
Good combination of throw and flood
Good runtime
Under $100

So far the only thing I have looked at is the Fenix PD30 with the Cree XP-G (R-4)
And the new Eagle Tac with the XP-G

A buddy of mine just picked up the EagleTac P20C2 MarkII. It's basically the size of the Surefire E-series 123x2 lights. Really bright and has one of the nicest beam shape's I've seen. "Nice" in my terms is a large smooth hot spot fading out to a very even sidespill. Not a huge thrower, but a very useful beam. Should be under your "preferred" budget too!

I also recommend you consider the Quark line. I have found that build quality, beam quality, output and regulation are fully comparable to the Fenix models. Quark modes are, IMO, somewhat better spaced than Fenix torches, and I find the Quark "moon" mode surprisingly useful. I acquired the Fenix PD20 and PD30 before the Quark 123 and 123^2 were released, but would now trade either for the corresponding Quark without hesitation.

I would go to the quarks definitely. Solidly built and has a great UI.

Quark 123ˆ2 regular, tactical or turbo! Plus you can buy a single 123 body and use it when you need to carry a small flashlight ;)

+1 for the Quark. 4sevens has put a lot of thought into these lights, and hence have an ability to please majority of the population.

I'd also look at the Olights. I find they have a bit more throw than most without sacrificing too much flood. The T20 Tactical has a clean UI - no strobe, SOS and other such. Five nicely spaced levels.

Personally I have moved on from Fenix to Quark. I like the extra thoughtfulness of the designs, such as the better pocket clips.

No need to look any further.

This is an amazing light in every which way..... pound-4-pound one of the best lights on the market IMHO.

You'll kick yourself for not purchasing it prior.

FYI: Had a chance to play with the JETBeam JET-III M and the EagleTac T20C2 CREE XR-E R2 in the last few days..... was so impressed with each one [couldn't pick a favorite] that I ordered both of them a couple of days ago.

PS: This "hobby" is a damn addiction!

Wonderful torch and for me a step ahead in quality feel over the many fenixes and quarks that I own. Best beam shape I've seen on any of the "usual" led brands and very bright with a really neat UI and very usefully spread brightness levels and runtimes. Absolute maximum size for daily carry for me though. Only just fits - but then again that's all it has to do so it's in my pocket every day and night.

I have the older Fenix PD30 R2 and can tell you that I'm still happy with that purchase. There are brighter lights out there, but the PD30 is a great light given the size and it's rock solid. I've dropped it a bunch of times onto concrete (unintentionally) and although it's got a couple knicks, it still works 100%. The only fault, if you can call it that, is that the Fenix has a reverse clicky. IMHO, I prefer the forward clickies.

Haven't tried a Quark, but other CPF'ers seem to rave about that line as well.

So, just give in to the evil flashlight demons and buy both. :thumbsup:

Are the olight lumens OTF?? If so the runtime beats the EagleTac by a good bit. The olight says 320 lumens for 4 hours. EagleTac is 300+ OTF with 400 LED lumens, but only 1.5 hours.
Anyone know how the beams of the two compare?

The OLight couldn't be OTF (out the front) lumens considering the advertised run time. It's just a matter of time before selfbuilt and other reviewers give us some unbiased numbers to compare.

Good output on both but I think overall, the build quality is better on the EagleTac.
