Eneloop battery sinking?

I bought some eneloops this august and when I checked the ones I put in my E21, the battery located near the bezel has a deeper negative side.

when i touch both the negative sides of the 2 AA, one is flat and the other one is a little bit like a bowl. Though not to much, you can still feel the difference. Is that normal?

The casing of the eneloops is quite soft. If you drop your light, the (+) terminal of the tail battery will usually dent the (-) of the front battery.

If you didn't drop the light then probably the spring in the tail is too strong.

The eneloops in my aa mag have dented negatives. They seem fine though functionally.

I've had cells dented in this way for both of the aforementioned reasons. It never seemed to really affect their performance, but I'd rather it hadn't happened.

For cells that are a tight fit lengthwise in a light, I either use cells that are a bit shorter, or trim the tailspring down a bit to relieve some of the pressure. Of course, there's not a whole lot you can do if you drop a light. That's how most of my cells get the "custom" dents in the negative end.:)
