Eneloop charger question

Thinking about jumping on the Eneloop wagon. Question is can I charge them in a Energizer Nimh charger ?

Which charger are you referring to specifically they have several models? But to answer your question you can charge Eneloops in any nimh charger. Some are clearly better than others. I would just get yourself a good smart charger like the La Crosse Technology Alpha Power Battery Charger, BC1000 or PowerEx MH-C9000 WizardOne Charger-Analyzer. In my opinion the PoweEx is a much more robust and better quality charger but a lot more of a PITA to use. The La Crosse is also a good charger and is definitely more user-friendly.

Thanks Knight Light. It's just your basic plug in the wall energizer 4 AA charger, has 2 green lights. If I like the eneloops I'll invest in a better charger. I had access to a Maha 808 and it was great.

Also how are the PowerEx AA's compared to Eneloops ?

You're welcome. If it has 2 green lights that means it probably charges in pairs (which is not the best option but you can definitely get away with it on a trial run). I would pay attention to the charge time. 4 to 5 hours would probably be ideal. The ones that take longer have a tendency to destroy the batteries because they miss termination due to a lower charge current.

The Maha is great but it is a PITA to do anything besides charging at the default setting.

The PowerExAA’s in my opinion are pretty good and they are also regarded well by others. I stick to strictly Eneloops (not the high-capacity). I can get 4 batteries on Amazon for $11. That’s a difficult proposition to pass down, plus I know the brand and the capabilities of those particular cells.

The PowerEx AA's are high capacity, but not low self discharge. Eneloops are way better, especially for low draw applications such as remotes...and especially for a back up battery cache, since they will retain 85 percent of their capacity after one year. Eneloops are worth the extra money, even at $4 per aa after taxes, and getting them a case.

The PowerEx c9000 charger is amazing and easy...
