Eneloops run a ROP just fine. The main advantage to the Eneloops is that they have low self-discharge. Rechargable batteries lose power while just sitting around not being used. For nicads and NiMH this can be fairly rapid in some cases. Eneloops are a type of NiMH where this occurs much slower.
