Someone here turned me on to this single mode 1AA with clip pocket light and I wanted to pass on a quick word about it to fellow bargain hunters and bargain light hounds.

Simply put, it is a great light for the money. It cost me about $17 after tax but prices vary from $10-18 from what I hear. There is an older version and the newer version which is the one you want and the one I got.

I am not going to do any sort of in depth review, I am just giving people a heads up to a good light that is local to most people in case you don't want to want 7 months for a DX light.

It is a single mode with a good amount of throw. Not quite as throwy or bright as my Rominsen RC-G2 but it is still plenty bright enough for my needs. It has a forward clicky which is great and a solid clip. I have not had any flicker problems at all with it and it seems to work great. If something did break, I can just take it back to target.

It is much brighter and has more throw than my AOKay K-106 and has a better clip.

I like my RC-G2 but all my DX lights have had problems including the RC-G2. I still think the RC-G2 is a good light for the $12 shipped but my view of DX lights is changing. I used to think it was a bargain hunter's dream site but many of their products are fairly junky. My advice is to cherry pick on the most tried and true lights from places like DX.

You're right about the newer version with OP reflector being better.
I bought several when Target clearenced them last year for ~ $7. It's baffling that Target clearenced them and then brought them back at full price in less than a year. They are great lights, but I like my Akoray 106 better for access to the low mode when needed. I also put a 14500 in the energizer and it really shines on 3 volts.

True about DX quality, but I've had good success when being very selective on their latest lights -> just need to disassemble, clean, deoxit the contacts and all of my DX purchases have worked fine. I've got the itch for a new DX gem; ideas?

Probably down to a quota rebate bonus.

Another good thing about the clip is that it looks and works great on a QMini 123.

Hey Zatoichi, is that Skyray sku 32749 looks pretty cool. Are you running 18650 or 2x 123's? Do you have another light with verified lumen output to compare to this to see if it's putting out close to 320 lums? The beam shots look like it's a focused thrower. Do you like the beam? (comps?) Any flicker or glitches in operation?

This Energizer is a great little torch. I have about 6 lying around! Brighter then my Rebel EOS so I'm in the habit of clipping it to my ballcap for headlamp use. My F150 rolled over one on cement and it just got a few scratches on it. I seem to use them as wheel chucks!!! Someone on here said they bored a few out for 123's. There was a big long thread on here about this torch about a year ago.

I'll PM what I can tell you kwalker, I don't want to hijack the thread. :o

Wonder if someone could help me out.

I could not find the skyray nor the 1aa energizer like the qmini shown in the post. The "catalog number" given for the 1aa energizer I found was 11234024. Is this correct?

I tried searching for skyray on the website but nothing came up.

You'll find the Skyray by searching for number 32749 on dealextreme.com. The Qmini is on 4sevens.com. Not sure about the Energizer, I believe Target is an actual store in the US.

I have the skyray and can vouch for it, its a good light. Mine came with a good tint and a good beam pattern(minimal rings). Is a bit more throwy than I like but I think most people will like this. Build quality and heat management are very good. Solid clicky switch. Seems to be about the same brightness on 18650's and 2xcr123 as far as I can tell. It probably isn't 320 lumens, but it might be. All i can say for sure is that it is significantly brighter than my quark mini 123 on high.

If you buy it I also recommend buying some of the 28mm o-rings DX sells, they fit the lens a bit better than the oring it comes with.

I'm not crazy about how the bezel shapes the beam, but in actual use you notice it very little.

If you can afford it you're still probably better off getting the original lumens factory seraph, but this knockoff is really really nice too.

never saw them after the clearance started they vanished here and then came back at $17 then vanished again. I would have bought 3 of them at $7 each as I lost my fenix L1P, and then my taskforce 1AA went on the blink.

The Skyray R5 is a great light!
However, i would not buy it again since the solarforce L2 and especialy L2p got that cheap recently.
You can get the L2p body for about the price of the Skyray. The dropin (xp-g r5) is available for $14 on dx, sku.32954.
