Estimated time before failure

One of my dogs needed to go outside tonight. As usual, I grab my LS27 which is attached to a long tether, and put it around my neck, then we went outside together. While outside waiting for him in ' Luna mode ' I had a thought. What if something would happen to my light. What would I do. I started thinking about the estimated time before some type of failure, and what would that failure most likely be.

I know Don could at his discretion repair my light, and if so, at what possible cost. What if something happened months or years from now, and he's no longer available. What then  Would I have a very nice titanium paper weight ? I use my light somewhat almost every day ( night ) It's not a safe queen. Would anyone care to venture how long it might be before some type of failure might occur, and what might that failure be. Are there any known early failures with the 27 or the 20 for that matter, and could anyone other than Don or a few select individuals found in these forums do such repairs ?

Anyway, these were my thoughts standing in my backyard tonight. Then my dog wagged his tail signaling he was ready to come in, so we did with my LS showing us the way. Now my light is tucked safely away again, and I can write down my thoughts.

Thank you
