My 47's Q Mini Titanium has a common connection from the threads and body to the inner negative trace on the "PCB" in the head. Due to spring tension the + PCB contact seems like it's always touching the cell's + nib. Is that correct?

Sometimes the Q-Mini will light as soon as the head and body touch as they're screwed together. This wasn't always the case, but I can't understand where the connection is broken to control the light.

Lights with anodized threads make use of the bare end of the battery tube, but what happens when the ano wears through? What am I missing?

Any help is appreciated.
 
The light went from flaky to dead, so I'm hoping the warranty service goes smoothly. It seems that a number of posts indicate problems with the Mini Q-123.

I still don't understand which connection is supposed to control the light.
 
On the MiNi, the threads are not meant to carry power - disconnecting the end of the body tube from the -ve trace on the PCB is supposed to turn off the light.
 
Thanks, carrot, that's what I assumed. Upon close inspection the two PCB "wings" of the trace look like they were intended to touch the head's threads and metal body. There may be a few thousands of a separation, but that would make this an unreliable design as any shift of part would cause contact. Perhaps because the -ve trace is reading common with the head shell, is the problem.

Yesterday I measured a few million ohms between the + and - contacts. Today it goofed up again and wouldn't advance from low so, just for fun, I dropped the light 3' to the concrete floor and the light quit. Now, there's a completely open circuit between contacts. The light was always intermittent, but after cleaning it would work again for awhile.
