Last night a tragedy hit the Queensland Police Service when one of our officers was shot and killed during an inquiry at a suspect's residence. The full story can be seen in the link below.

I wanted to post it here to let my fellow Police officers and LEO know that last night we lost a brother and for everyone else that Brett paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the way of life most people take for granted.

To Brett's family deepest sympathies and to Brett RIP my brother........

For anyone interested the Police union website has a vale to Brett Irwin

My prayers and thoughts are with this man and his family.
Its terrible that stuff like this has to happen.....

Keeper that story really highlighted what dangers police face, being killed in the execution of a relatively low risk warrant (from what I have read) is something most of us can't imagine dealing with on a daily basis. I felt for this Constable and his family the moment I heard the story.

An Ex-Digger who then continued to serve the community in the QPS - the world needs more people like Brett Irwin.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not
weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we forget.

RIP
