Faulty charger?

I just got Duracell CEF20DX2 charger. I thought it charges each cell separately. But when I insert a battery in the right slot it won't turn the charge indicator, left slot seems ok. I called Duracell they said I can return the charger to Target. I was wondering if this charger is not dumb one :drool: (charges batteries in pair) and I should get indicator light turned on regardless of the slot I put my battery in.

Googling, it says it's suppose to be independent channels:

so it seems like it should be able to charge, but maybe you always have put at least one, in the left slot, i.e., maybe to save costs, they designed the circuitry with the assumption that there's a battery in the left slot, at least?

Does it work with BOTH situations:

a) One battery, only in left slot, AND
b) Two batteries (both left and right slots)

??

I'm wondering, if it is designed that way, and you have batteries in both slots, if you happen to put the less-charged battery in the left slot, and that gets fully-charged first, will it stop charging the one in the right slot?

If so, that sounds more like "semi-independent" channels?

Sorry I don't know the exact answer, but maybe someone else here does...

C) did it put charge into batteries in both slots.
D) did you try both batteries in both slots, Or Are you sure one battery is not at 0v. Or if you test both with a meter are they similar.
what if you have one battery that it just isnt charging, because the charger freaked out about it when it saw it?

with both batteries the charge indicator glows. I will check voltage with DMM. I called Duracell, seems that it looks faulty they offered me a coupon if target won't accept return.
