Hi all.

Just received a NiteCore EZ AA yesterday.

Unfortunately the flashlight seems to be faulty on arrival.

After turning it on for a few seconds to a few minute or so (in either high or low mode) the light could start to flicker.

Time taken for it to start flickering varies. Changing to a freshly charged Powerex AA battery is the same.

On further testing, it might not flicker at all after it has been left on for a while. Almost like when it got warm up it would be less likely to flicker. However, I left it on low mode late last night and woke up 7 hours later this morning to find that it was flickering again. Changed to a freshly charged AA and it was still flickering.

Left it alone for awhile and then came back to test it again. Initially it flickered but now it stop doing that.

Rather unpredictable.

Is this normal or I have a faulty light? Should I return it for a replacement?

Thanks.

It should not be flickering. It sounds like the light is faulty.

FWIW I had a similar issue with an EZ 123. After cleaning all the contact points with DeOxit and DeOxit Gold and then re-lubing the threads, the problem remained. I did get the light from 4sevens and their customer service did a stellar job in dealing with the issue. I received an RMA number from them for the faulty light and they sent a replacement light right away. The replacement light I received has no flickering at all. I am quite pleased with it.

So, if the light continues to flicker even after cleaning all the contacts, contact the dealer you purchased the light from and get a replacement light. If you got it from 4sevens, then you can be assured that they will do their best to make it right.

Getting a bit tight to turn after cleaning.

What can I use to lube the thread?
Would a household grease eg Vaseline be alright?
Should I lube over the O ring as well?

Thanks.

The light was working fine .........

So I thought ........

The next thing I found was it would not turn on at all.

Change AA battery and it is the same.

This is one dead flashlight. :mecry:

Emailed and still yet to hear from 4Sevens.

Do I have to bear the postage to send this flashlight back to him?

Give their customer service a bit of time to get back to you. When I emailed them for my faulty EZ 123 the auto-reply stated a customer service rep would get back to me within 2 business days (which they did).

As far as paying for return shipping, it states on their website that "Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer."

Warranty and Returns

Thanks.

Looks like the return policy is clear on their website but I am not impressed...... even DX pay for sending back the faulty goods and I think that is fair because the customer is 100% faultless in DOA scenario. Customer has been inconvenient enough as it is.
