Anyone know how to remove the head of the Fenix E1 so that the LED can be accessed? I tried heating the head with a hairdryer and used some rubber to allow the vise grips to get a grip. I just ended up with some scratched anodizing. Are these epoxied?

I know one gent who just unscrewed his...

Thanks,
Kevin

It might depend on the light. I just received mine (black) and was able to unscrew it with bare hands right out of the box. There was a pink substance on the threads that was definitely not epoxy.

Looked more like dried silly putty or something. I promptly removed it.

Hairdryer might not give enought heat for soften glue. You might boil in hot water for 2-5 minutes to soften glue (with zip bag).

Thanks Krit. I tried that too; no luck. These are normal thread, not reverse, right?

Thanks,
Kevin

Right. The knurled part loosens from the smooth part in the same direction as turning off the light or removing the head assembly.

Good luck.
