I received my L2T Rebel 80 today and must say I am very impressed.
Output on low is brighter than low on my P2DQ2 by quite a bit. I would guess it is at least 15 lumens if not a few more.
Output on high is very bright! It is in between turbo on the P2DQ2 and the turbo setting on my P3D Rebel 100. I would guess it is around 125 lumens or so out the front. The tint is a perfect white and is the exact same as my P3D Rebel 100. Maybe Rebels have less difference in tint compared to Crees or Luxeons of old.

The threads needed a good cleaning, but are very smooth after cleaning them with alcohol and applying some Nyogel.

The momentary tailcap is awesome! Works just as described and makes this light much more useful than other Fenix models which use the reverse clickie (IMO).
Overall I REALLY like this light so far and consider it a bargain for what you are getting.

Here are a few pics comparing it to other popular flashlights so you can get an idea as to how large it is. The first pic goes Maglite 3D, Streamlight 4AA Luxeon, Fenix L2T Rebel, Maglite 2AA Incan (this is my fiance's light I swear! lol) Second pic goes Fenix L2T Rebel, Fenix P3D Rebel, Fenix P2DCE Q2. I hope these give a good idea as to the size of the light. As you can tell it is very similar in length to the Minimag.

Pros:
Very bright with good tint
Easy to use for flashaholics and non-flashaholics alike
Nice finish as with all Fenix lights

Cons:
Threads needed some cleaning to operate smoothly

I will post some beamshots tonight as soon as it gets dark. I'll compare it to the P2DQ2 and the P3D Rebel 100.

Re: Fenix L2T Rebel quick review

Thanks for the mini-review, adirondack...

I received my L1T V.2 a couple days ago, and liking it alot.

I traded heads with it (L1T Rebel) and my L2D CE, and viola! I now have an L1D CE and an L2T Rebel to check out.

I've read comments of naysayers bashing the Rebel 80, but they obviously don't have one.

This Rebel 80 is no slouch. Its a perfect white, mine is neither warm nor cool, and the beam pattern is very clean.

I like the output of the L2T v.2, like you say, very impressive.

But the output of the L1T v.2 is also very nice, considering the single AA battery as its' power source. And it fits nicely in my shirt pocket, which is the main reason I bought it.

Thanks for the review. Will be looking forward to your beamshots and it will be interesting on how it compares to other lights.

Re: Fenix L2T Rebel quick review

Here are some pics. They make the P2D Q2 appear brighter than the L2T Rebel because the L2T has a less bright but larger spill area which can't all be seen.
Order is : P2DQ2 Low, L2T Rebel Low, P2DQ2 Turbo, L2T Rebel High

Re: Fenix L2T Rebel quick review

Great photos adirondackdestroyer ! One can quote the specs...but what is it they say ? ....."a picture is worth a thousand words".

Truly "practical" beam shots. Thank you.

Re: Fenix L2T Rebel quick review

Wow! Excellent beamshots adirondackdestroyer!

Its amazing how this L2T Rebel keeps pace with your P2D Q2.

All I can say is "seeing is believing". :faint:

Re: Fenix L2T Rebel quick review

Thanks Adirondack :kewlpics:

The L2T is turning out to be a favorite model and yours looks like the first review :goodjob:

Any issue with heat running extended time on high?

Thanks for all the compliments guys.
I really like the beam and am pretty impressed by the output considering it uses AA cells.
I haven't noticed any heat problems on high, but I've only used it for relatively short periods of time so far.

I did some ceiling bounce tests a few minutes ago and to my eye the L2T is either the same brightness as the P2D or brighter. It's hard for me to tell because it is extremely white while my P2D looks very green in comparison. I'm not sure if this makes it look brighter because of the tint or if it is actually brighter. Either way this is once bright light with a very useful low.

Very nice pictures....!!
Thanks.
Would you be able to have side by side beam shots with say "SL PP LUX 4 AA" ?

Regards.

I would gladly do it but for whatever reason I am very bad at taking side by side shots. They both appear so damn bright that you can't even tell any difference between the two.
I will tell you though that it completely crushes a SL 4AA Lux in total output. Isn't even close. I can take some real life pics (either inside like the ones above, or outdoor shots) comparing the two lights. Are you interested in seeing those?

Newuser01,

Here are some pics for you. It shows the L2T Rebel on Low, then the Streamlight 4AA Luxeon, and then the L2T Rebel on high. This is pretty much the difference I see in real life.
I hope you enjoy.

nice shots !
now i'm convinced on the 2AA flashlight to be the flame thrower :D

This is the brightest 2AA light I have seen and is very impressive. I'm hoping for some runtime test pretty soon. If it runs for 2.5 hours or more on high then this light is incredible!

Think that your pics have convinced me to buy one!!

I've been thinking of buying this light for a neighbor and your review and photos have convinced me. Perfect timing!
Only bad thing is , now I,ll probably buy one for myself to!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Your neighbor will love this light and it will most likely blow him away if he is a non flashaholic. I'm planning on buying one for my father for his birthday. He doesn't like reverse clickies and doesn't like all the modes that other Fenix models have. I think many non flashaholics will really like the simplicity of this light above all else.

I received my Red Filter and Diffuser the other day from Fenix and am very impressed by both. The red filter dims the light substantially and is very good for preserving night vision. Here are some pics comparing low and high with and without the red filter. I shouldn't have to tell anyone this, but the order they are in is:
L2T Low Red Filter, L2T Low, L2T High Red Filter, L2T High.

I got a L2T today as well,It is bright!:),on high the only thing brighter is my Electrolumens Dacree,it runs on lion18650.For Fenix to make somethng so bright on 2 AA batteries is impressive. Also the user interface is simple and intuitive.Works perfect.
For the nit pics, low is not super low,it is useful and would cover most needs in real world circumstance.I could see 80% or more of the time using low and high onlly when really bright light is needed.Low runtime is 30 plus hours! Momentary switch!!!!!!!
Nice Job Fenix!

How's the mechanical fit on the red filter and the diffuser ?

Any pix ?

I'll take some later tonight.
I'd say that they both fit rather well. It is a night tight fit that I doubt will come off in real world use.
