I have seen these two lights at nearly the same price which one would you choose and why?

I'd go for the LD12 for sure even though I don't like side switches.

The C10A looks really good but the LD12 has much much better runtimes and even better spacing between the different output levels.

The C10A has a higher lumen output - at least in theory, but those 25 additional lumens are not even going to be visible.
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the LD12 would be brighter: I have an LD10 (rated at 100 lumens) and it appears to as bright as or even brighter than my Klarus XT1A and JetBeam PA10.

I had the same question not so long ago and I ended up buying the Fenix LD12--I'm very happy with my choce.

Worth noting is that a Sunwayman sales person told me that the C10A would be soon discontinued:

We do not have the plan to upgrade C 10A for now. And C 10A may be discontinued later, so if you like it you had better keep one before it’s discontinued.

The above quote is taken off an e-mail I received in March 3, 2012.

I've been quite pleased with my LD12. I like the beam and it's moderate amount of throw. Surprisingly the beam is quite artifact free despite it's SMO reflector. The brightness spacing is good too, I find myself using the 27lm setting the most, followed by the max setting.

My heads spinning with all the choices it's like trying to juggle soot ,

Yes. Lots of choices these days, but it sounds like you might have it isolated down to 2 choices. I don't have a C10A but I do have an LD12 and am happy with it.

Another light similar to the LD12 is the Klarus ST10. I think they are discontinued now but are still for sale. Look for deals though as I wouldn't pay full price. The LD12 can be bought for in the low $40's if you look around. I think part of the decision is what you happen to find on sale too.

I can't speak at all for the C10A, I'm not familiar with it. I do have the LD12 and I am very happy with it. I did not care for the idea of a side switch at first, but I decided to try it. A month later and I am really liking it. In fact my Quarks and older Fenix's feel awkward to me now. I got to like the moon mode on Quarks. But for me its really a special purpose mode, not something I use everyday. So I am glad to not cycle through it every time. I mainly use this light for daytime work. The memory is great for me as I turn the light on and off frequently as I use it. I like the levels. For fixing things and looking through parts bins, I get usable light whenever I turn it on, no matter what level I left it at and from there it's easy to readjust the level as needed. What I'm saying is the low is fairly bright. Its not too bright though, I have used it in the middle of the night and it is not blinding. It might be more than some guys want if they need to preserve night vision. The beam is nice. No green. I am tired of green tints.

Thanks for the advice , it looks like the Fenix edges it , now to complicate things even more i noticed that Lumapower are bringing in a new range of EDC flashlights , my wife can't get near the laptop ,

I know exactly what you mean!!!
When I wanted to buy two flashlights (one 1xAA and one 2xAA) I kept looking all over the place and each time I thought I had made my mind up I ended up seeing some other flashlight which also seemed to do the trick.
I eventually got the JetBeam PA10 and PA20 but within 3 months I had the Fenix LD10 and LD20 as well as the Klarus XT1A and XT2A.
My advise here is: make your mind up quickly, buy one or two flashlights, then hand over your laptop to your wife and ask her to change the password but not to give it to you for at least 12 months! 😗

Her memory is worse than mine she'd never remember a password , the reason I'm looking for a flashlight is because i left my last one on a job and i can't remember which job it was .
