I need long throw with some flood. (intended uses: duck hunting, trying to maneuver a 15' foot boat in flooded timber at 0500 and trying to find a downed deer at 2000)

What are and how much real world differences between these two light?

Well for starters, the LD41 uses half as many cells as the TK41 (4xAA vs 8xAA). The TK41 throws twice as far as the LD41 and has a greater output as well.

I don't have either of those lights but just from looking at the specs you will get a greater distance out of the TK41 says the distance is 500m as the where the LD41 is around the 200m range. If your going for distance than the tk41 just from the specs. You want a light that's just aa batteries 18650 and cr123 lights are good also. What's your price point and is there a specific size

The latest update of the TK41 is now the AA king of throw - 65k lux! Runtimes on ni-mh are impressive and it's really not a big light (smaller than a 2D Maglite).

For what you've described it would serve better than the LD41. Unless you really want a thinner, lighter light, li-ion has no real advantage at the 900 lumen level as 2x18650's will give comparable runtimes.

With the shape of the 41 for your intended use do not dismiss this light to quickly,it can tail stand and lie flat which on a boat is a right good bonus. One of our boat chandlers actually stocks this light and i was well impressed with it.

I would suggest for boat use whichever light you buy attaching it to a waterbuoy keyring.

I own the older model LD41 and have gifted a TK41. I would base your choice on size and weight. If throw, runtimes or brightness are critical for you, the TK41 would have a huge edge but at the expense of more batteries, more spare batteries to carry along, being heavier to hold etc. The TK series also have a more rugged build quality than the LD or PD series but don't get me wrong: the LD lights are built pretty well too.

I am not sure how you intend to use the light and how far you'd expect to shoot a duck down. Do you plan to fix the light on your rifle? I have no experience in that department but I suspect the TK41 would be awfully heavy and not easy to fix on any gun-mounted rail: maybe you want to take a look at TK15 or TK22.

2000 feet is 600 meters and I imagine downed deer in vegetation would be hard to spot even with a TK41 which out of the two is definitely your best bet for that kind of distance!

haha, lab, the light is to navigate through the swamp, not to spotlight ducks (or deer).
