Please tell me which one you would buy and why. I realize one is more lumens but I am interested in build quality, ease of using it. Thanks for all the help. I am ordering Monday afternoon so if you could please reply before then.

Definatly the RC40...better throw and will not step down after ten minutes like the SR96.

I don't know about the build quality of the RC40 but the SR96 is built very well. The SR96 is also very easy to use and from watching different videos it looks like the RC40 is pretty easy to use as well.

I guess it will come down to what you prefer more, throw or flood. RC40 for throw and SR96 for flood.

I just picked up a O'Light SR96 and I also have a Fenix TK70 triple LED monster. For flood I prefer the SR96 when I want to light up an entire football field right in front of me. When I want to see something in a smaller footprint say 2-3 football fields away, I break out the massive TK70 although it has a lot of spill too. Looking at the RC40 reminds me a bit of a combination of the O'light SR96 and the Fenix TK70 in the shorter length like the SR96. If this is your first light, that RC40 seems like it might be a great overall light and I like the interface on the newer Fenix stuff as much as I do the O'light. Can't go wrong with either but it goes back to the prior post, flood or throw - choose your preference. Good luck.

i decided to order both. i only wanted to carry one buti guess i will take both on a fishing trip and see how easy they are to use and test there battery life. i will post results latter thanks for your input.

ok, i have had a chance to use them both while fishing and around the camp ground. i decided i need to keep them both. the fenix is so easy to use, i really love it. the sr96 puts out so much light i really love it. i guess im a flashaholic . i just need to figure out which one i want to keep out of the box for easy access . my tm26 seems to be about the same as the sr96 and that really surprised me. at night at the ocean i was using them both and it was hard to tell the difference between the two.
