Just a quick question, is it hard to get these lights international these days, because they are discontinued?
Are they still as attractive as they were years ago?

I came over a batch of these lights at a good price, and wanted to know if i should buy a few...
 
It's a heavy robust light with nice neutral tint.
Emitter is a bit outdated and high mode is dim by todays standards but still has nice runtime and decent lumens on low.
Tight spot, not really good for close up work.
I like mine.
 
I'd think its kinda lacking by todays standards too but for the price you are paying, you should check any more modern alternative and then decide if its worth it. What price are you getting btw?
 
Yes, i know they are quite outdated, but i see they are still loved on the forum.

If i remember right i get it for about 40 $

150 lumens - 1.25 hour runtime | 45 lumens - 8 hour runtime

choice of outputs - 135 lumens (2.25 hour runtime) and 48 lumens (11 hour runtime)


last year i bought a batch of TK20's for my family and friends as part of emergency kits, wanting to give practical gifts in this uncertain world. This year i wanted to make afew more but could not source any TK20's in the uk at a reasonable price $68 the cheapest upto $108. So i bought Fenix E21's sourced from ebay for $30 even got acouple extras for personnel spares as i liked the light, but if i had the choice i would have gotten the TK20's. maybe abit old but then again so am i.

im using my TK20 right now i love the tint on turbo mode but on low i think its a bit greenish but not disturbing also mine makes a loud whining noise when its on turbo but i dont mind as long as it works :) i would buy another one if i got a good deal :hitit:
 
Really tough flashlight, good throw, very nice neutral beam that comes close to my newest High CRI in color rendition. I'm almost tempted to ask where you can get them at 40$ to get a second one for myself... it's pretty much a collector's item by now.

I had the chance to directly compare my old TK20 to the light that supposedly replaced it, the LD25. The LD25 was brighter, but as always with LED lights in my experience, brightness is not always useful. The TK20 easily out-threw the LD25 and the XR-E in the TK20 was a warmer color than the XP-G in the LD25. That warmer color of the TK20 made colors come alive at night, while the cooler color of the LD25, while much better than a regular cool white LED, still washed out those same colors and made them appear lifeless and dull. Honestly, I'm not impressed by any XP-G lights and I have had zero urge to replace my XR-E powered ones with those with newer LEDs.

The LD25 was much lighter and more compact than the TK20, but it just didn't feel as good in my hands. The TK20 has some real beef to it that no other 2 AA powered light has. Honestly, it's tough to beat the TK20 in my opinion. It takes a beating and just keeps working. Plus, I love lights that are designed around the K.I.S.S. principle and the TK20 is a perfect example of that.
 
I think the XR-E and XP-E 5A tinted LEDs has one of the best looking tints around so even if the Q2/Q3 5A XR-E in my TK20 is outdated I still like it. I don't think anyone will make something like the TK20 again.
