First EDC LED torch?

I'm looking for my first EDC LED torch. I really don't know anything about flashlights at all. I would like something that could hang off my keys, so not too big but not too small. Something under $100, preferably under $50. Around 1000 lumens if that's at all possible. Thanks. Suggestions?

That might be too much lumens to expect from a keychain light. Wait for the experts to chime in though

I don't know of any keychain lights anywhere near 1000Lm. I also don't know what you consider keychain size.

The very top sticky in the "recommend me a light for..." forum is a checklist of the info you need to provide in order to answer your question.

1000 lumens from a keychain is most likely not possible, however again I don't know how big you you consider to big. That checklist will help us all help you best.

My only advice I can offer is DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT take lumen ratings from eBay/amazon/any big-box type stores as anywhere near the truth. There is a wealth of info here, we can get you a GOOD QUALITY ligt that can do everything you want (within reason). But we need a good clear description of your expectations and you can best provide us that by using the checklist. You don't have to spend lots of money to get a good quality light.

Okay when I say keychain, I guess I misused my words. I just want something I can carry with my keys, not necessarily on them. Something similar in size to a mini compact flashlight, with a clip, maybe 50 to 60 or 70 mm in length.

1000 lumen definitely too high for a torch.
basically, manufacturers use the most simple, 5mm lamp, with viewing angle 15 for this.
<8lm is more than enough.

I ordered the TrustFire MINI-02 from Fasttech. I haven't received it yet, so I can't give you an opinion, but I did a little research and this seems like a great, cheap light that should last you a while with a 16340, while not taking up too much space like an 18650 light would. I'll let you know my opinion of it when I get it, but you're getting a tiny XM-L light for $15, so you can't go wrong here. It has good reviews as well (4.9/5)
