Hi all,

Just ordered my first Romisen from Shiningbeam, an RC-29 II R4 "Flood-to-Throw" model. I got it just for fun because it's a variable focus light; not sure if a single mode light is going to work as an EDC light for me, but that's no big deal, I'm sure I can find some use for it once I get it. For the price I can always give it to my son if I don't find something compelling about it.

According to their website it's an XPG and a 2B tint bin. However, I'm not familiar with this tint, can anyone give me some info as to what this tint is like?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Re: First Romisen

I bought the same model from them...not sure of the binning specifics myself, but mine has just a touch of purple in it.

I figured that since I have great throw lights *and* great flood lights, it'll come in handy at some point for the combination.

It's a neat toy...flood...throw...flood...throw.

My own little personal entertainment center. :twothumbs:popcorn:

Re: First Romisen

The bin may end up being a little deceiving because the aspherics tend to warp the colors ever so slightly in my experience. Also the rc-29 II is technically a 2 mode, although the modes are very similar.

Will be interesting to see what its like.

ROmisen on shiningbeam has 3 different ones from what Ive seen:

a) A 1xAA light with an XP-E. Probably too low voltage to really be very bright Id suspect. Wonder if it can run on a 14500? Thats a big jump tho.

b) A 3xAAA light that can also run on 1x18650 or maybe 2xCR123. I have a similar light (X2000 from DX) and this is a nice light. The 4.5 Volts from AAAs means that even on alkalines it is pretty bright and a very nice light. Its shorter and a bit fatter than a 1xAA which is a nice form factor since it has about 1.5 AA's worth of energy. This would be my pick.
I did notice that this light seemd to have DISAPPEARED from shiningbeam's website.???

c) A CR123 light. Can probably run a RCR123 4.3 volt with no issues with thats not a huge step up from the 3.0 volt CR123. Id rather have the 18650/AAA version though since the extra shortness of the CR123 doesn't really buy you much.
