I'm looking to get my first 6P, but am torn on whether to get the regular incandescent (to modify) or the bored custom through CPF. Are there any pros and cons between the two? I have done a lot of soaking of info on the forums, but any additional info would be much appreciated before I make my final decision.

Its going to depend on what you want the light for and what you want to run if all your going to use the 6P for AEM drop-in host.

I would (after many moths of lurking around here) go with the bored out custom. Most bored out 6P's will accomodate BOTH 18650's and Primarys, which will give great flexability in what power you want to use. As with any 6P style light you will also get the ability to accomodate any of the plethora of drop-ins on the market.

boss,

how much are you looking to spend?

An incan 6p will still set you back between $35-$70 on ebay and elsewhere, depending on how good of a deal you can get, and a stock LED model will be roughly the same.

A few people on CPF sell bored out surefire 6P bodies that take a 18560 battery, and i've also seen them on ebay for a "buy-it-now" price of $10.

You could use the twisty (or even by a surefire clicky aftermarket) and buy a bored body on CPF marketplace/ebay and then add a custom "drop-in"

I know malkoff m60 type drop-ins are made for the surefire 6P and come in many different types and tints and are very good. There is a cpf member named nailbender here that also sells many different quality drop-ins as well. Check them both out. ***Make sure you use the correct battery combo no matter what you choose to go with, you don't want to fry your new led with too much voltage! :poof::mecry:

If you wait and watch a solid 5 or 6 days on cpf marketplace, i'm sure a modified surefire 6p will pop up, probably with an already bored body and a r2 or similiar drop-in for around $40 - $60, I would just recommend this route, as it will be the cheapest and most hassle free.

Hope I helped, the 6P has been around for awhile, and the reason is because they are bulletproof, good choice.

Depending on how much money you are willing and able to spend, I would suggest getting a bored surefire from ElectronGuru. Then you have a number of options. I got a bored C2 LE from him and dropped in a Nailbender XPG R4. I couldn't be happier with the combo. And down the road I might upgrade to a SST50 or 90.

It just all depends on what you wanna spend. Happy Hunting.

My 6P sat in a drawer for about 10 years cuz I got tired of buying expensive batteries and incan modules. Bored it out with a drill and sandpaper, tossed in a DX R2 module and 18650 and it's now my favorite torch. I would definitely go for a bored 6P!

If you're like me and use your light often, but only for a couple minutes total runtime per day then don't bother with a bored body or rechargeables.

If you're someone who will use the light many minutes at a time, consistently, then the above obviously makes much more sense.

Well I don't have any dollar restraints. I'd like a reliable and long lasting light which would require putting some money into it.

The CPFMP has good deals that I do keep an eye on, but it seems like you have constantly watch it or just get plain lucky as the good stuff just flies off the shelf.

Thanks for all the help to everyone. I value everybody's comments and hope to continue to learn more.

Get either a bored C2 or C3. If money isnt as big an issue, then its well worth the upgrade imho.

The bored version will allow you to use more battery types than a normal C2. And because youre buying from a member here, you know that any manufacturing defects (in the unlikley event) will be caught by them, and dealt with before the light reaches you.

One of the best investments i feel ive made in flashlights is my C2 (not bored though)
