I'm looking for a CR123 torch that can be powered with rechargeable batteries, and can also be mounted to a weapon. It looks like the P2D would be easier to put on a rail mount because it's completely a cylinder.

Are there any drawbacks to the P2D Q5 or advantages that the PD20 has over it?

P2D's dont run on RCR123a's, if you get lucky it might, but most likely it will fry it. try at your own risk

The Novatac sounds like a good fit. 1" cylinder and available remote tape switch.
