Pun intended ;-)

So we were at walmart last night buying some things last min before we were gonna head home and the power went out the emergency lights came on. Instead of pulling out my modded hds42 I just slowly exited the store with everyone else. Drove home and all the street lights were off. Got home and went for the light box. Pulled out 6 glowsticks 2 for the children and 4 for on the steps. I gave everyone in the house a dx photon to carry arround their necks and used my hds in on medium level candlestanding so we could eat dinner. I also used it on high and bounced it so we could take quick showers and it was more than enough light. I used my 6p with dx led when the hds was in use but it was too bright for most use. I'm really glad I bought those dx photons thou.

My gf who normally makes fun of my "flashlight fetish" wasn't laughing :)

Now what should my next light be

Lucky you, how long did the power stay off? I could have never withheld my self from pulling out my light in the store though;).

the power stayed out for about 2 hours total. it gave me a chance to see what needs to be improved for lighting up the house in these conditions.

I think Im going to pick up 2 2d mag's and convert them to LED for bounce lights.

to conserve batteries, i got me a 100 pack of cheap tealights and will use those in the event of a blackout, got a load of cheap tealight holders too but those are in addition to the flashlights of course

I really want to get a few room lights either just bounce lights or 2-3 lanterns. Problem is I probably won't get to use them till the next power outage who's knows when. So maybe just flashlights instead

I did pull out the hid light just to go outside and shine it around. It's really too bright to use for anythin other than a spot/search light. It did make one cool looking beam into the sky thou

Makes me wonnder how long before security would have bailed you up as you went out the door - "excuse me sir, are you going to pay for that?" - "but but its mine, besides you don't sell quality lights like this one"....

i wound never use candles in a black out.

that can only make a situation turn from back to worst in a matter of seconds.

imagen trying to find a fire extinguisher in the dark =\

but an LED niteze in a maglite, should serverve for hours, and besides, you'll be sleeping most of the time its dark.

no candles for me.

I can echo this - Thursday night I checked into Hilton Garden Inn at the Halifax (Nova Scotia Canada) airport - power was off due to snow storm & transformer failure. As I had just been working in a mill I had a C2 in one pocket and a McGizmo mule in the other. The mule was a hit as it sat on the beer tap at the bar, flooding the ceiling it was almost as if the lights were on.

Hilton Garden Inn was great, free salads & sandwiches, kept track of beer tab though:mecry:.
