Hello all, I was thinking about buying an led lenser p7 light as to someone with limited knowledge on the flashlight market this seems the good choice, I was doing a bit of research and came across this website, I was interested to see there seem to be many better options, I was hoping that someone could recommend a led flashlight, my only criteria is battery type must be, AA or AAA, the brightest available torches which I want to use for walking my dog through the woods at night, I would hope for water resistance and decent battery life and reliability, I want a good and consistent high level of light, I would consider any options that meet that criteria, thanks in advance

LEDLenser is a decent company, but many say they are only worth it for the focusing mechanism (they have trademark on it or something).

If your only criteria is AA or AAA battery, you can have someone mill you a solid 24k gold light with custom drivers and diamond studs and a platinum chain 😛
That being said, what's your price range? How much output? Runtime? Check out the Flashlight Recommendation checklist.

There are many sane options for you (as in, none solid gold ones). The main difference between them, besides price, is the number of modes, mode switching, and switch location.

For 1x AA lights, I have a Zebralight SC51c that I like, and the Balder SE-1 is also nice at ~$20.
These companies also have lights that could work:
Fenix
Foursevens
Thrunite
Jetbeam
Olight
Surefire
Sunwayman
Nitecore
Shiningbeam
Lumapower
Klarus
Peak LED Solutions
Spark
Eagletac
Dereelight

:welcome:

Without a budget it's tough to help, but any of the list above would be OK. I like the Balder Se-1, and though I run it on a li-ion 14500, that's not necessary - you can even get an extension to use 2 AA cells. It will be plenty bright for dogwalking, and good value. You can even get it in different tint options, but that is another question.

I got into all this addiction last Xmas, when I wanted to buy a friend who lives on a boat a good light. I thought LED Lenser would be good, but stumbled on an Amazon review, and got him a Fenix LD01 and E05 set. I then discovered this site, and bought myself some good lights too.
