Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there is a flashlight that doesn't have a hot spot. One that can output a smooth wide beam of approximately even strength. All the LED flashlights I have seen tend to have a focused bright point at the centre of their beams.

Thanks for your help! :)

Zebralight.
Or any light that allows you to take the head off and expose the bare emitter (i.e. candle mode). In 1xAA, The Lumapower X2 and Tiablo TL-1 both allow this, with tailstanding. There are other examples for other battery types (e.g in CR123A, you have the original JetBeam Jet-II IBS, the Lumapower Incendio, etc.). But of course, you also have no protection for the emitter that way.

Or an aspheric, defocused by bringing the lens closer to the emitter. The lens protects the emitter, and (assuming a variable-focus design) you have the ability to focus it back up for a spectacular thrower, or anywhere in between.

What about a Milky Floodmaster?

+1 on the Zebra

My Streamlight Stinger DS LED is a great full flood when bezel is unscrewed.

More lights should have this feature, takes me back to my Mini-Mag, and would save buying two like the new Eagletac.

+1 for Zebralight.

Can I ask what your intended purpose will be for this light with no spot? Any illumination within 10 yards will be covered, but not much more than that.

Zebralight is good, but a brighter light is the Sunlite 8w Utility head putting out over 300 lumens in a wide flood beam. Also, the Sunlite 65 lumen Slim has a nice smooth round beam with no spot.....well.....actually, the beam is like one solid spot that is very evenly spread out. Both of these are designed for Mechanics, so they are good for up close use.

Keep in mind that just by taking out a reflector, you will lose some lumens....

+1 on the Lumapower ConneXion X2. You can operate the light for 2 distinct purposes, typical hotspot and sidespill, or total flood.

one of those EL quad MCE or build your own mag MCE and leave out reflector
